My Favorite Place - Colorado
My Favorite Place - The Rocky Mountains in Colorado

I have not been able to travel as much as I have wanted, especially recently, but I visited Denver, Colorado during spring break 2019. I may have only visited for five days, but it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and I instantly fell in love with it. The city was amazing, with plenty of interesting restaurants, stores and parks, as well as some of the most breath-taking skylines I've ever seen.
During my vacation I spent three days exploring the city, which was not nearly enough time, and then went up to the mountains to try skiing. It was actually my first time skiing, and the friends I chose to go there with picked a mountain with only a bunny slope and then intermediate and expert slopes. I am a pretty impatient person so of course I went on the intermediate slopes way too soon. I got about a quarter down the slope and then slipped and barrel rolled the rest of it. I'm still very surprised I didn't even have so much as a bruise, especially with all the trees that lined the slopes there.
This image was taken in Ukraine, but it was the closest to what the lift looked like at the ski slopes I went to, maybe with a slightly less dense forest. After skiing there was also a small village at the base of the mountains we would visit. It was very charming, and I wish I had taken photos because I cannot find any online. There was an Italian restaurant there that had some of the best spaghetti I have ever had, not including my mom's because mom's cooking is the best.
Besides the amazing views and nature activities, my favorite part of Colorado was the art in the city. Especially downtown there was huge murals on most of the buildings. I think murals in cities add a lot of character, and it definitely did that in Denver. I think I could spend days just walking around Denver and admiring the murals.
Overall I think Colorado has basically everything a person could ask for, and if I could ever convince my partner to move there, I think I would gladly spend the rest of my life there.

How great that you tried skiing, Charley! I have only tried water-skiing, and I was not very good at that... but I love the mountains and the snow and all the wildlife you can see there in Colorado (eagles!). And yay for public art: I use a thing called Google Arts extension in my browser which pops up random art as wallpaper when I open a new tab, and a lot of it is street art like that. Maybe you can explore the street art of India for this class (being able to learn about Indian art is one of my favorite things about teaching this class); there is so much to see online!
