Week 2 Reading Overview

Week 2 Reading Overview

I have chosen to read the Tiny Tales from the Ramayana. I chose this option for a couple reasons. One, I am working a full-time job, so the shorter reading option was attractive so I have more time for writing or doing other classwork. I also like the blog posts from Laura I read, they're easy to read, so I wanted to read about Ramayana from her. Finally, I was interested in the fact that the Tiny Tales from the Ramayana has more backstory and folklore variations.

Ramayana Comic Books/Videos

For the comic books, I am interested in "Rama: Retold From the Ramayana" and "The Lord of Lanka: The Rise and Fall of a Demon King". I am interested in "Rama: Retold From the Ramayana" because I thought it was interesting that they could fit an entire epic into a comic book. I am interested in "The Lord of Lanka: Rise and Fall of a Demon King" because it had the words demon king in the title. I really like paranormal stories, and the idea of a demon king was cool.

For the videos, I am interested in "Harry Potter meets Hindu Mythology" and "Powerful Women in Hindu Mythology". The first video I am interested in because I like Harry Potter, and I thought it would be interesting to see stories in Hindu mythology that were like Harry Potter. The second video I am interested in because it highlights powerful women, which I always enjoy reading about, or in this case watching about.

This is the image I chose for this blog post. I chose a picture of Vishnu because I had taken a history of dance course my freshman year and I remember the name Vishnu, however, I don't remember who Vishnu was.
