Learning Challenge: Learning the Pomodoro method

What is the Pomodoro Method?

The Pomodoro method is a time management strategy that just uses a timer. You choose one assignment, set a timer for twenty-five minutes, and then after it's gone off you put a check on your assignment take a 5-minute break. After four twenty-five-minute timers, you increase how long your breaks are.

Experiment

I used the Pomodoro method to work through some late work I have. I just used my phone timer for the twenty-five minutes sections and then set my phone across the room. The method worked very well. The thing that helped the most about it is I stopped looking at my phone and it did not feel like 25 minutes was that hard to do. I got through a lot of work and still do not feel that tired.

The only downside of this method was that I picked up my phone to end the timer and then I had my phone in my hand and it was hard to put it down. I think it would be worth it to buy a separate timer from your phone just so you can remove extra temptations.

Conclusion

The Pomodoro method is very useful. It helps you focus and streamline your study session as well as easily break up your work into neat sections. I recommend this to people who have issues focusing, and especially if you cannot have any technology around that would distract you.
