Microfiction: A Dabble in D&D Design

Authors' Note:

I decided to write a microfiction about a potential Dungeons and Dragons character after reading another classmate's microfictions about his. I thought it was so cool, and I'm very interested in learning more about Dungeons and Dragons. Writing this I mostly just envisioned a scenario for my character in my head and started writing.

I do not know much about the universe or character creation of Dungeons and Dragons, but I have always been drawn to elves, so that is what my character is. I am extremely tall and it's always been cool seeing tall women in movies being portrayed as ethereal and graceful as elves. My character's name is Vlana, which is just a name from a generator that I use a lot in video games. She is a young elf druid who wanders nature, content simply to exist in nature. She was abandoned in the forest at a young age and was raised by nature.

Microfiction 1: The Beginning (100 words)

Valna heard footsteps in the distance, crashing through the trees with such drive that Valna knew exactly where they were going. Quickly, she jumped to her feet a sprinted through the forest. The air was thick with tension and Valna's heart began to sink as she realized she was not going to make it in time. She ran and ran until she came upon the clearing. She halted stopping just before she reached the edge of the trees around the sacred spring. Tears sprang forward as she looked at the scene before her. She was too late, they found it.

Microfiction 2: Revenge (98 words)

They swarmed around the spring, already setting up barricades and chopping down trees. There were hundreds of soldiers milling before Valna destroying the one thing she vowed to protect. Her heart shattered in a million pieces and slowly rage started to fill her entire body. It started in her chest and slowly spread throughout her until she was filled with so much anger she was shaking. Just then she made a vow to kill the king who ordered this. Standing silently she memorized the crest on the men's armor, then with a dark expression, disappeared into the forest.
